Essential oils are a staple in my magical healing toolbox.  I use them every day, for all sorts of things.  Every night, I put a few drops of lavender oil on my pillow.  When I feel tired, I grab a citrus essential oil and mix it in with a small amount of hand lotion, which I then massage into my arms.  When I’m sick or need to disinfect something, I turn to tea tree oil.  Essential oils are one of the easiest ways to incorporate the healing properties of plants into your life.

This recipe is for one of my favourite blends.  You can mix this up in a small amount of carrier oil (I like jojoba), or place these oils and herbs into the water of an oil burner, like I did last night.  If you’re using an oil burner, make sure there is enough water, as the lavender will soak up a bit, and it can burn off quickly, depending on what type of candle you’re using.  I like to use small tealights, so that the water evaporates slowly.

I have provided recipes for use with both a carrier oil and for use in an oil burner, for your convenience.

Invigorating & Healing Essential Oil Blend in Carrier Oil

  • 15-3oml carrier oil (jojoba, grapeseed, coconut, olive, etc.)
  • A generous pinch of dried lavender
  • 10 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops pine essential oil (I used longleaf pine)

Mix all of the above together in a small bottle, adding the lavender last.  Let sit for a few days to allow the scents to mingle with the delicate dried lavender.  Apply to body as desired.  If you are hoping to use this as a moisturizer, it is preferable to use jojoba or coconut oil.

Invigorating & Healing Essential Oil Blend for Oil Burner

  • Water (quantity depends on the size of your oil burner)
  • A pinch of dried lavender
  • 3 drops lemongrass essential oil
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop pine essential oil (I used longleaf pine)

*These quantities are for a fairly large oil burner, which holds approximately 100ml of water.  If your burner is a lot smaller, decrease the lemongrass oil to 2 drops and the lavender oil to 1 drop.

Place water and essential oils in the top of the oil burner before lighting the candle to ensure that the burner does not crack.  Once this has been done, carefully sprinkle dried lavender over the water/oil mixture.  As long as the candle keeps burning, the scent from this will last for several hours.

I find this oil blend to be energizing and calming at the same time.  The fresh scent of the lemongrass oil contrasts nicely with the lavender and pine oils, and the end result is very pleasing.  I have made this blend in a carrier oil, and once it is finished doing its thing, I would have no qualms about putting this on my body.  It smells fantastic.
